VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.0: Install, Configure, Manage (VSRM)

Course Description Schedule

Who Should Attend

This hands-on training course is aimed at system administrators and systems integrators experienced with VMware Infrastructure 3 who are responsible for their organisation’s deployment of SRM.

Prerequisites

Recommended: Completion of VMware Infrastructure 3: Install and Configure or equivalent experience with VMware Infrastructure 3 Basic knowledge of disaster recovery concepts Basic knowledge of storage array technology

Basic Skills Self-Assessment: SRM

You must already possess the following prerequisite skills to gain the greatest possible value from attending this course: Create multiple virtual switches and configure port groups in VMware vCenter that can support the service console, VMware vMotion, iSCSI, VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), VMware High Availability, and virtual machine production networking operations. Install v Center and add VMware ESX server to its inventory. Reorganise your storage, moving virtual machine files from one LUN to another, either while the virtual machine is powered on or off, to facilitate a disaster recovery failover. A basic knowledge of SAN management activities, such as replication, replicated LUN discovery, or replicated LUN synchronisation by separating synchronised LUNs or additional mirrored LUNs or snapshots during a test or an actual failover. Configure access to iSCSI storage on your ESX server. Create a VMFS datastore on shared storage. Migrate a virtual machine using vMotion. Apply migration recommendations in a DRS cluster. Send an SNMP notification when a virtual machine-based alarm is triggered. Configure VMware HA to successfully fail over virtual machines during a host failure.

Course Objectives

The course covers installation, configuration, and operation of VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and testing of disaster recovery plans with SRM.

Delegates will learn how to:

  • Create a disaster recovery workflow for your virtual machines using SRM
  • Install SRM components
  • Configure SRM storage replication adapters
  • Configure SRM protected and recovery sites
  • Configure SRM array managers
