New courses, new exams and a new name: CCNP Routing & Switching

Cisco announcing changes in the CCNP certification

Today, 29th July 2014, Cisco announced changes in the !CCNP certification. The 3 courses !, ! and ! have been updated, Cisco introduced new exams and the certification is now aligned with both the !CCNA Routing & Switching and the CCIE Routing & Switching certifications. The name of the certification has been changed from 'CCNP' into 'CCNP Routing & Switching'.

More focus on IPv6 and VPN technologies
In the new !CCNP Routing & Switching certification there is more focus on IPv6 and VPN technologies. Topics such as wireless, voice over IP and video have been removed.

New exams can be combined with 'old' exams
The new CCNP Routing & Switching certification consists of 3 new exams. These exams can be combined with the 'old' exams. The old exams can be taken until 29th January 2015 and are valid for 3 years.

300-101 ROUTE
or
642-902 ROUTE
this exam will expire 29th January 2015

and

300-115 SWITCH
or
642-813 SWITCH
this exam will expire 29th January 2015

and

300-135 TSHOOT
or
642-832 TSHOOT
this exam will expire 29th January 2015

Updated courses
The !, ! and ! courses have been updated to serve as a preparation for the new exams. The updated courses will be available with Fast Lane soon.
