MS Azure Cloud Ready Hackathon: Containers, Kubernetes, CI & CD (MSAZCKCICD)

 

Course Overview

The Cloud Ready Hackathon – Containers, Kubernetes and CI & CD prepare Engineers across all flavours of cloud-native development, deployment, and orchestration of containers and integrate it all into standard DevOps processes. The focus is to give Learners a hands-on experience of working with Docker, Kubernetes, and popular DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.

Please note Learners will work in teams of 5 or 6, where they will collaborate throughout the hack, completing a set of gated challenges that will take them on a journey to becoming the stars of today’s modern, cloud-native application world. If you wish to book a dedicated team, the price is £4,300 +vat.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

  • Familiarity with software development practices
  • Some experience with Linux/Bash

Course Content

  • Challenge 1: Pack it and send it to the dock
    • Introduction to containers with Docker. Creating Dockerfile, building images and pushing to Docker registry.
  • Challenge 2: Let the orchestration begin!
    • Introduction to Kubernetes. Creating the first cluster using Azure Kubernetes Service. Deploying first container images to Kubernetes cluster.
  • Challenge 3: Let’s automate the packaging
    • Introduction to CI/CD tools. Creating the continuous integration pipeline with unit testing, branch protection, code-quality gates, and creating and pushing container images.
    The attendee teams will be able to choose between Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions – whichever works for them.
